About Us

Machine Knitting

The Woodley Machine Knitting Club first met in 1981. The total number of members exceeds 30, with the majority of members belonging to the Guild of Machine Knitters.

We meet on the 1st and 3rd Thursday monthly (with the exception of August and December) at 7.30pm in The Tea Room, Woodford Park Pavilion, Woodford Park, Haddon Drive, Woodley, Reading, Berkshire. RG5 4LY, you can find a map here.

Membership consists of experienced knitters, some beginners and others returning to the craft after years away. We are interested in all crafts that can be used with machine knitting, i.e. hand knitting, crochet, embellishing, fabric painting, embroidery, beading etc.

Our programme includes regular speakers as well as some hands-on club evenings when we practise techniques on the club machine etc. Other activities include tutorial workshops when some experienced members help new knitters to improve and “Knit-in Weekends” when several members hire a hall for a 2-day knitting event.
